Time to get your costume ready: San Diego Comic-Con International returns to the San Diego Convention Center from July 19 through July 22, 2018. If you were lucky enough to grab one of the sold-out badges to this highly-anticipated event, check out our tips for making the most of your experience.
What to See
Navigating this multi-genre comic and entertainment convention can be a daunting task, with event attendance topping over 130,000 people in recent years. Still, we recommend braving the crowds and making your way through the exhibitor hall to check out the comic book merchants—and don’t miss out on the collectibles made exclusively for Comic-Con! You can also refer to the official programming schedule and structure your days around the many film and television screenings happening throughout the weekend.
Who to See
Comic-Con has been announcing special guests in waves over the last several months, with more names sure to be added to the lineup in the final weeks and even days leading up to the event. Among others, recently announced guests include Joëlle Jones, renowned writer and artist for DC comics’ Catwoman, and Noah Van Sciver, of the critically-acclaimed comic book series Blammo.
If you can get in line in time, you can also join one of the panel discussions! Some of the panels this year include the production team for Bob’s Burgers, a Simpsons panel with Matt Groening, the cast of Riverdale, and a preview of Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans, MC. View the full list of special guests here; panels will be announced in the programming schedule.
Where to Stay
For those traveling in from out of town, finding a hotel near San Diego Convention Center is of paramount importance. Centrally located across the North San Diego Bay from the convention center, Best Western Plus Island Palms Marina & Hotel is far enough from the crowds but still close enough to provide easy access to the event. Enjoy relaxing Shelter Island accommodations, on-site waterfront dining, and more during your stay.
