Giant balloons are the star attraction in the Holiday Bowl Parade in San Diego on December 28. This is the largest balloon parade in the country, and the balloons are joined by floats, bands, drill teams, and great entertainment as it makes its way along the San Diego waterfront.
You can watch for free from along the side streets or buy a grandstand seat for $22 (that's the best way to be sure to see every performance). The parade will run from 10am to noon, and it's just one of the Holiday Bowl special events taking place in San Diego before the game.
The Solar Turbines 5K Run/Walk kicks off just before the parade, at 9:45, and participants will get cheered on by the parade spectators--the roar of the crowd is a great motivator to get you moving! You'll still have time to watch the parade after reaching the finish line.
Hang out after the parade, because a Battle of the Bands will take place at Broadway Pier at about 11:45am. Later in the day comes the game activity, with the FanZone's interactive football experiences and beer garden opening at 3pm and the pregame show at 5:30pm. Kickoff is at 6.
Best Western Plus Island Palms is located near downtown San Diego so it's easy to head to all the game-day festivities. After enjoying the events, head back to quiet Shelter Island and enjoy our amenities including pools and tennis courts. Click here to make your reservation.
