With 70 miles of coastline, there's plenty of room to enjoy water sports in San Diego. Here's how to spend your vacation on the water.
Start with the beach, of course. We've got more than a dozen beautiful strips of sand. Find the one that's perfect for how you want to spend your day at the beach, whether strolling on the water's edge, surfing, snorkeling, or finding other ways to challenge the waves. You can try these activities on your own, or take a tour to help you find the best spots. At some beaches, you're just steps away from a farmer's market or amusement park for when you want to get out of the water.
Head out to sea on a Hornblower cruise. The tours head out into San Diego bay to search for ocean wildlife or simply to enjoy the salt air during a dinner cruise. Be sure to admire the skyline views of our downtown from the water.
The ocean's full of fish, of course, and dropping a line in the water is a great way to enjoy an afternoon in the sun. You can walk to the Shelter Island pier from Best Western Plus Island Palms and settle in to enjoy fishing in San Diego, or rent a fishing charter. Our marina offers a place to tie up your own boat, too.
