Halloween in Point Loma 2026: From Liberty Station to Shelter Island

By Best Western Island Palms Hotel

October brings a festive change of pace to Point Loma, with pumpkin patches, fall festivals, historic sites, and Halloween parties close to the water. With its prime Shelter Island location, Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina puts guests close to the neighborhood’s festivities, from a Halloween night out just steps from our hotel to pumpkin-filled celebrations at Liberty Station. Add waterfront dining and on-property Halloween fun, and you can enjoy a spooky season getaway without venturing far from the hotel.

Just a short stroll from our hotel, our sister property Humphreys Half Moon Inn is hosting a Halloween celebration at Backstage LIVE, complete with live music, dancing, and a costume contest! With Summer of Love bringing hits from the 60s, 70s & 80s.

The costume contest adds an extra reason to dress up, with prizes including a one-night stay at Humphreys Half Moon Inn and dinner for two! With live music, dancing, and a $15 cover at the door, it's an easy way to celebrate Halloween just a short stroll from our hotel.

Fall & Halloween Around Liberty Station | 2.4 Miles from the Hotel

Pack your costumes and bring the whole crew! Just a short drive from our hotel, Halloween at the Station brings an afternoon of trick-or-treating, crafts, costume contests and family-friendly fun to Liberty Station.

Goff Family Pumpkin Patch at Liberty Station | 2.4 Miles from the Hotel

Goff Pumpkin Patch San Diego

For a classic fall outing, make your way to the Goff Family Pumpkin Patch at Liberty Station. Admission is free, making it an easy addition to a Point Loma getaway. The patch features thousands of pumpkins, seasonal photo opportunities, and lawn games, while weekend visitors can also enjoy pizza and drinks. Dogs are welcome on a leash, too.

It is a relaxed choice for families, couples, and anyone who wants to enjoy the traditional sights and flavors of fall without committing to a full-day attraction. Pick out a pumpkin, snap a few seasonal photos, and soak up the neighborhood atmosphere before heading back toward Shelter Island.

Harvest on the Promenade at Liberty Station | 2.4 Miles from the Hotel

If your idea of fall involves live music, seasonal bites and a little hands-on fun, Harvest on the Promenade offers a festive afternoon in Liberty Station. The family-friendly festival features seasonal food and drinks, local vendors, live music, family games, and creative activities.

The highlight is Glowing Hollow, an immersive display featuring more than 1,000 illuminated, hand-carved pumpkins. Unlike a haunted attraction, it is designed as a colorful celebration of fall and is suitable for all ages. Couples, groups of friends, and adults without children can enjoy the festival atmosphere, too.

For families staying at Island Palms, Halloween at the Station is one of the easiest ways to enjoy Halloween close to the hotel. Taking place at Ingram Plaza, the free celebration includes trick-or-treating, crafts, activities, a DJ, inflatable obstacle courses, and a costume contest. There are five costume categories covering young children, older kids, adults, groups, and pets.

The Halloween at the Station event is designed to be lively without feeling too scary, making it a fun daytime option for families who want costumes, candy, and plenty of Halloween energy.

Old Point Loma Lighthouse | 6.0 Miles from the Hotel

Point Loma Lighthouse

For a Halloween experience with a little more history, head to the Old Point Loma Lighthouse at Cabrillo National Monument. Local ghost stories have long connected the lighthouse with former keeper Robert Decatur Israel, with reported accounts of unexplained footsteps, cold spots, and other strange sounds. These are stories associated with the historic site, not a paranormal tour offered at the lighthouse, so think of this stop as a self-guided visit with an intriguing Halloween twist. The National Park Service currently lists admission at $20 per private vehicle, with admission also covering the lighthouse and other areas of the monument.
