Lunar New Year at Seaworld San Diego

Celebrate the Lunar New Year at SeaWorld in San Diego. Sometimes called Chinese New Year, the Lunar New Year is measured by the cycles of the moon. This year’s Lunar New Year on January 28, 2017 is the Year of the Rooster according to the Chinese zodiac. SeaWorld, just 5 miles from the Best Western Plus Island Palms hotel in San Diego, is celebrating the new year for almost a month, from January 28 through February 20.

The shows at SeaWorld are always spectacular, featuring awe-inspiring stars like orcas and dolphins, as well as the ocean’s clowns, sea lions and otters. During the Lunar New Year festival at SeaWorld, there are more awesome shows featuring amazing Chinese acrobats, lion dancers, and a dragon parade. You can also get a taste of Asia at the Lunar New Year Festival at SeaWorld; their festival area will showcase Asian cuisine.

Don’t forget to spend time with SeaWorld’s animals. You can choose the once-in-a-lifetime experience of dining with Shamu, or an animal interaction experience that puts you into the water with dolphins or beluga whales. Touch pools at Explorers Reef give you a hands-on encounter with fish, while an underwater viewing tunnel gets you as close as you dare with sharks.

You can get hands-on with manta rays at the Manta Roller Coaster, or ride the coaster for a different kind of thrill. Cool off with the tube ride through the rapids. Then end your day of adventure at Best Western Plus Island Palms, where you can relax in the hot tubs, enjoy a game of tennis, or stroll or bike our waterfront paths.
