San Diego Upcoming Events to Look Forward To in 2022
There’s always something amazing happening in “America’s Finest City” — especially in 2022. After dealing with a tough few years’ worth of cancellations, and postponements of some of our biggest annual happenings, San Diego is poised to stage a big return to form this year. Here’s the low-down on all the biggest and best music festivals, get-togethers, block parties and other San Diego upcoming events coming back to the area in 2022.
KAABOO Food and Music Festival (Dates TBD)
San Diego’s favorite music festival had to take a break in 2021, but this year will see its triumphant return. Petco Park will once again play host to the festival, which always features loads of amazing local food, an energetic atmosphere, and loads of incredible live music. The dates, schedule and lineup are still being finalized for this year, but you won’t want to miss it. KAABOO is one festival that never disappoints

This year will bring entertainment to Waterfront Park courtesy of acts like Chet Faker, Gorgon City, Felix da Housecat, Glass Animals, Four Tet, and many more. Attendees will also enjoy craft beer, arts vendors, specialty food and lots of surprises.

San Diego Restaurant Week (April 3–10, 2022)

More than 130 eateries will be participating in April’s San Diego Restaurant Week, which will feature specials, discounts, and uniquely event-specific menu items that you simply can’t enjoy at any other time on the calendar. It’s been a tough few years for the area’s restaurateurs, so there’s no better time to get out there and enjoy some great taste!
Humphreys Concerts by the Bay
After a triumphant 2021 season — featuring sold-out shows with artists such as Chris Isaak, Judy Collins, Chicago, Cheap Trick, and many more household-name superstars — the 2022 Humphreys Concerts by the Bay season is shaping up to be no less spectacular. This year, concert-goers can look forward to checking out acts like Colbie Callait, They Might Be Giants, Mat Kearney, Little Feat, and many more. The calendar is only just now beginning to fill up with spectacular performances, so be sure to keep an eye on their show schedule for all the latest!

Aficionados of micro, small-batch and craft brews can sample some of the city’s best beers at this festival, as well as a deep selection of other regional brews, and even international varieties. Big Bay Boom (July 4, 2022)
Independence Day is always a cause for celebration in San Diego, and 2022 is poised to be one of the biggest yet. The massive Big Bay Boom fireworks display will be taking place at 9 p.m. on July 4th, launching from four barges across San Diego Bay. This family-friendly celebration is always a fantastic time filled with food, music and fun. So bring a lawn chair, find a spot, and get ready to “ooh” and “aah” as the sky comes alive.
San Diego Pride (July 9 – 17, 2022)
After two years of being a mostly virtual event, San Diego Pride will be returning in a big way for 2022. The city’s largest LGBTQIA+ cultural celebration will once again feature live events, such as The Spirit of Stonewall Rally kick-off gathering, femme-centric She Fest, faith-focused Light Up the Cathedral, and — of course — the massive Pride Parade, the region’s largest civic event. Don’t miss your chance to head out, be out, and live it up!
San Diego Comic-Con (July 21-24, 2022)
The world’s biggest convention of comics culture returns to the San Diego Convention Center in July of 2022. The reputation of Comic-Con precedes it for fans of pop culture. For the uninitiated, Comic-Con is a massive event that draws more than 135,000 attendees every year, all of whom are there to celebrate the impact that all things superhero, sci-fi, fantasy, and magic have had on our collective consciousness. Elaborate costumes, video games, panel discussions, meet-and-greets, and (of course) comics galore will greet visitors at the con.

Attendees will enjoy music, food, arts and crafts vendors, local craft beer tastings, and more. This year’s fair will host more than 100 musical acts over seven stages, so there’s certain to be something for everyone. When you go, you’ll also discover carnival rides, cultural events, and endless fun for the whole family. The best part? Admission is always free.

San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival (November 11–14, 2022)

Still, the varied terrain, endless sunshine, and rich soil of areas like San Pasqual Valley, Rancho Bernardo, and nearby Julian have ideal conditions for vineyard growth, and the wineries of these areas are creating some impressive bottles worth checking out. San Diego celebrates this amazing wine culture at the San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival, which makes a grand return this year. Expect great food, entertainment, and vintage bottles aplenty.
