The Mother Goose Parade takes place 11/19, a few days before Thanksgiving, getting the holiday season off to a great start. More than 100 marching bands, floats, clowns, equestrians, and other great entertainers make their way along the route in El Cajon.
San Diego’s theme parks offer family fun all year long. SeaWorld San Diego is open for a full day of fun Thanksgiving Day, with rides, shows, and animal attractions. You can get a jumpstart on Christmas, too, because the SeaWorld Christmas Celebration starts on 11/18. Legoland California is also open Thanksgiving Day, and the park’s holiday special events begin 11/18. Spend Thanksgiving Day with the animals at the San Diego Zoo; you can even have your Thanksgiving dinner at the Zoo’s restaurant.
There’s no running away from family in one of San Diego’s many Thanksgiving Turkey Trots. Choose your distance and pick a race; most of the fun runs welcome runners and walkers of all ages, even those in strollers.
Don’t forget to leave time for just hanging out at the pool or playing a game of tennis together.
