When and Where You’ll be Able to Enjoy Live Music in San Diego

Few experiences compare to seeing your favorite artists recreate your life’s soundtrack directly in front of you. There’s just something about the unique energy of hearing live music that really re-energizes the soul. For many of us, the cancellation or postponement of live concerts during pandemic lockdowns was one of the toughest things to take. But thanks to the continued success of immunization efforts, live music in San Diego is poised to make a big comeback in 2021.

Ready to rock out again? Read on for the lowdown on when and where you’ll be able to see your favorite artists in and around “America’s Finest City” this summer and beyond.

Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay (0.3 miles from the hotel)

We’d be remiss in not directing visitors to San Diego’s premier concert venue, Humphreys Concerts by the Bay. Located adjacent to our sister Shelter Island property, Humphreys Half Moon Inn, this fantastic outdoor space is once again welcoming some of the country’s biggest performers to its stage starting this summer. Have a seat in the great outdoors, enjoy the weather, and the beautiful Marina views — where loads of locals always line up in their boats to listen! Tickets are currently on sale for shows by acts like Judy Collins, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Boz Scaggs, Trampled by Turtles, and many more.

Located in nearby Liberty Station, The LOMA CLub is a local favorite; a restaurant / golf course / live music venue with ample outdoor seating where guests can really kick back and soak up the fun. The CLub features live music outdoors every weekend, so you can fill your ears with sound while you enjoy the fantastic dinner and drinks menu. Upcoming events include performances by HLLNDR, Sutton James, Emily Moore and The Fab Lushes.

Wanna rock the Casbah? Live music returns to this legendary SoCal stage in summer ‘21. From its beginnings hosting early gigs from seminal alt-rock acts like Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and The Cult, Casbah has grown its reach, capacity, and influence several times in the intervening years. Starting in April, look for shows from acts like Tune-Yards, Agent Orange, Electric Six, The Detroit Cobras, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Lucero, Dawes, and Dinosaur Jr.

The SHOUT! House (6.1 miles away)

Recently voted San Diego’s best music venue, The SHOUT! House offers a singularly unique entertainment experience. Two virtuoso piano players (backed by a full band) alternate between “dueling” and accompanying each other on timeless rock, pop, and soul hits from the 1950s to yesterday. Expect fantastic showmanship, high energy, a dash of comedy, and absolutely jaw-dropping musicianship. It’s a top-of-the-lungs sing-along celebration of music every night.

Wonderbus (Everywhere)

(Photo:@wonderbusentertainment)

Less a venue and more of a mobile music experience, the Wonderbus brings the noise all over San Diego. This open-roof, double-decker bus has been retrofitted to accommodate a performance platform on its second level, allowing artists to set up shop on top, and rock the crowds wherever they may roll. Even better — the lower level of the bus serves as a VIP lounge, complete with beverage service, HDTVs, and a go-anywhere party vibe.
