San Diego Film Festival – Best Western Plus Island Palms
The San Diego Film Festival, taking place 9/28-10/2, lets guests dive deep into the cinematic experience with the best American and foreign independent films. There’ll be more than 100 films, parties with the stars, and panels with industry insiders. You can soak up the atmosphere in beautiful seaside La Jolla and the historic Gaslamp quarter while watching top films and learning what motivated their makers.
Kick Off at Historic Balboa Theater
It’s a blockbuster opening night party at the historic Balboa Theater in downtown San Diego. The opening night film is followed by a Q&A session and then an after party that takes to the rooftops.
Go for the glamor at the Variety Night of the Stars Tribute at La Jolla’s Museum of Contemporary Art. Watch for stars including Annette Bening make their arrivals on the red carpet. Another after party follows the event.
Dinner and a Movie
What’s on the menu? You’ll get a glass of champagne when you arrive at the screening of Ants on Shrimp at the culinary cinema event. There’ll be an accompanying chef-created tasting, too.
Industry Interaction
Of course, while the parties and menus are fun, the focus of the event is the movies. The filmmakers will answer Q&As after their screenings, and panel sessions let you hear from industry experts. It’s the Hollywood experience but with the welcoming warmth of San Diego.
