The San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon 2018

Combining a physical challenge with classic jams is a recipe for adrenaline. The Rock and Roll Marathon, scheduled for June 2-3, 2018, is your chance to experience just that, joining runners from San Diego and beyond in one of the most unique sporting events of the year. Featuring live bands, cheer teams and, of course, unforgettable music, the Rock and Roll Marathon has been an institution since 1998.

Take it to the Limit

Whether you’re a participant or a spectator, you’ll want to get plenty of sleep the night before. The marathon, half marathon, and two-person half marathon relay all kick off bright and early at 6:15 AM on June 3, starting a 6th and Quince in Balboa Park. (The 5K starts at 7 AM on June 2, starting at 6th Avenue and Palm Street.) The area is easily accessible by public transportation, and the race areas will be clearly marked so all participants know where to go. Fuel up, lace up, and be on your way!

Music Every Mile

As you might expect, music infuses every part of the experience. There are the live bands, DJs, and drum lines, but also pacers with music, customized curated playlists on Spotify, and a free Post-Race Concert, located at the Finish Line Festival. Stacked with local talent, the lineup will keep your heart rate up during the race, and shift to a more easygoing groove once you’ve made it to the end.

What to Keep in Mind

If you’re cheering on a runner, know the projected finish time of your runner to keep track of time. You’ll be able to reunite with your runner thanks to large alphabetical signs that will be posted in the Family Reunion area near the Finish Line, but if you need any help, there’s plenty of Marathon staff on hand to answer any questions.

It’s almost time for one of Balboa Park’s most vibrant events. Join your fellow runners, challenge yourself to the tune of some great jams, and enjoy the race of the year while staying with us.
