San Diego Biking – Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina

San Diego is spread out, so biking is one of the best ways to explore all our attractions. Best Western Plus Island Palms offers complimentary bike rentals to get you pedaling. Ride the paths along the bay outside our door or explore further afield.

Bike Along the Coast

San Diego’s coastline is one of its best features, so choose a ride that’ll keep the water in view for a spectacularly scenic outing. Start on the cliffs in La Jolla and set out on the Pacific Coast Highway. The ride blends flat stretches with challenging hills, all keeping the ocean in sight. For a totally flat, easy outing, follow the Mission Bay Bike Path, where you can pedal 12 miles around the inside of the bay. A day at Mission Bay has the option to get off your bike and enjoy the park’s pools, wildlife preserves, and boardwalk.

Bike in the Mountains

Leave pavement behind and test your mettle on a challenging dirt trail in the hills and mountains surrounding San Diego. Head to the east side of Mission Trail Regional Park for easy routes, or go west for more difficult options. The park’s main ride,¬†Father Junipero Serra Trail, is an easy path that takes you to the Old Mission Dam, a historic landmark. Or visit another historic landmark, Cabrillo National Monument on Point Loma, for another ride that’ll have you powering up the hills.

Relax at Island Palms

Whether you headed into the mountains or kept the coast in view, unwind back at Best Western Plus Island Palms. You can celebrate at happy hour in the Blue Wave Bar and Grill, or soothe your muscle aches with a soak in one of our hot tubs. Either way, you’ll be ready to take on a new set of exciting San Diego adventures tomorrow.
