Before You Go

Can I Bring My Own Food?

You most certainly can. However, you're not permitted to bring coolers or other large food containers. For your convenience, you'll be able to enjoy your meal in our picnic areas, which are located outside the San Diego Zoo's main entrance and close to the Safari Park's entry plaza. If you've already entered the Zoo, make sure to get your hand-stamped so you can         re-enter after eating. No glass, straws or alcohol are allowed.

Is The Zoo Open When It Rains?

The San Diego Zoo is open every single day of the year regardless of the weather. In the event of heavy rain some of the animals may not be available to be seen as they take off for their bedroom areas, which are situated away from the exhibit. Generally speaking, a good number of the animals don't seem to mind the rain at all so you should be able to enjoy them even when it's less than ideal conditions.
